How Much Romantic??

As per the label "romantic", this designation should be understood in the broadest sense:  Okram books are not mere love stories (but, of course, personal affections are present).  Rather than that, there's much more general romantism included:  heroism, ideals, idyllic sceneries, human dreams, cosy homes, picturesque childhood...  ... and their opposites depicted in the uneasy battle between good and evil.

Book Heroes

Adult mystery solvers are grouped around Doctor Barton.  Everybody in the neighbourhood thinks he is just an ordinary speech therapist.  Only a narrow circle of his friends and supporters know about his extraordinary abilities as a scientific mastermind.  Then there is a group of curious kids.  Their interference with the grown-ups' business often results in unexpected situations - comical turns of events including...

Plot

The same team of heroes solve various perplexing cases over several decades.  When clarifying secrets, crimes and unusual happenings in their city and the broader region, they often find little fragments of evidence fitting into a much bigger mega-puzzle.  Combined together, these pieces will unveil an epochal discovery.  

Timing

The above entertaining threads (mystery solving, detectiving, expeditions, etc·) unveil on the background of serious societal and political affairs of the 20th and 21st centuries.  

Context

The series begins in Europe divided by the Iron Curtain, in the repressive era of totalitarian communistic oppression in the 1980s.  That's when a young African national arrives here in the framework of a trans-continental cultural exchange program to start his university studies.  Imagine a young Muslim, son of a former local king, French-speaking, full of youthful expectations - relocating to a Moscow-driven Slavic-speaking country practising grey socialism, enforcing atheism, hating everything Western, actively suppressing Christianity, and officially declaring anti-racism.  Well...  As you can guess, such a non-everyday confluence of circumstances develops into interesting situations...  

Readers can follow the protagonists as they bore through numerous personal and societal struggles, tirelessly cracking plentiful intricate cases on the go - gradually finding themselves in the unified EU.  The mind-bogglers awaiting them in the modern era exceed their wildest imagination...  

Geography

The primary research headquarters are located in Europe.  Some stories bring the mysteriology squad to other continents, letting the explorers experience local problems and investigate certain enigmatic aspects of overseas history.  

Intellectual Value

Okram books also capitalise on a captivating scientific dimension:  The encountered rebuses are often derived from existing but not widely known natural laws and rare phenomena.  This enriches the suspense of the plot with an educational undertone.
