Can you please introduce yourself a bit?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

Sure.  Even though my typical proclivity is to keep a low profile, it's definitely polite to say at least something.  For example, it can be mentioned that I am no novice in the authoring circles.  Two of my shorter works of a very different genre (journal articles written in a foreign language and under a different name) have scored many times in the global quarterly best-read ranking lists of the respective periodical published by a leading international publisher.  Now, it would be a pleasure to offer something comparably enjoyable to other breeds of lovers of captivating reading.  Such a dream eventually gave rise to the idea of the recently incepted book series.

Why don't you tell us a little more?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

Well, perhaps it won't hurt to reveal that I belong to the age group that knew the last living recallers of the 19th century and, at the same time, had the opportunity to participate in the creation of the achievements of the 3rd millennium.  Lots of interesting things happened in that period - more than in all previous eras combined - and even more unknowns lie ahead of us yet to be understood.  Thus, perceptive readers can consider me a writer drawing on the unsolved mysteries of the past.  A writer who sends his heroes out of the familiar everyday mundane life into a world of unexpected twists and turns to solve the most exquisite subset of those fundamental enigmas.  Along with all the toils, sacrifices and unusual adventures that go with it.

What inspired you to write your books?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

As children, we used to play archaeologists.  Occasionally, we encountered strange relics that even the oldest local residents couldn't explain.  It was the excitement of those months and years when we couldn't contain ourselves and had a hard time sitting still at school - always looking forward to further expansions of our searches through old houses and other forbidden nooks and crannies.  May those genuine experiences never be forgotten...  This profoundly perceived shiver-sending atmosphere of encountering unadulterated mysteries is dominantly projected into all my stories (the recent book as well as the pre-drafted plots).  Of course, this is done with a carefully dosed but nevertheless rich share of imagination needed for conceiving the fictional continuations of the partially unresolved affairs and complementing the unclarified - or sometimes outright obscure - human fates.

Who is your favourite character from your books, and why?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

It's Doctor Barton in his apartment full of all sorts of oddish inventions and unearthed curios.  Reclining near a woodstove with a crackling fire in his private library, he helps people solve difficult problems when other attempts by professional experts or official authorities fail.  Although he loathes crimes and avoids criminals with all his might, he ultimately ends up nailing more wrongdoers than the entire police department.  Then there's third-grader Bruno and his friends.  I like these kids for their curiosity and investigative ingenuity.  Thanks to their exploratory undertakings, meddling in everything, and childlike honesty, the adult protagonists' lives often get pretty tangled up.  I also like the characters of the ordinary commoners of the neighbourhood because they help the idyllic Old Town district retain some of its traditional moral values and humorous optimism.  Without those friendly folks, both the inquisitive Bruno and the free-spirited Dr· Barton would have it a hundred times harder to pursue their investigative goals, as their lifelong mysteriology escapade begins in the uneasy times of crushing totalitarianism.

So, are your books for children or for adults?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

Actually, that's not mutually exclusive.  Both children and adults appear here in the key roles.  The books are surely good for the cleverest of the 8-10-years-old, while adults may understand and enjoy additional intriguing nuances.

Have you always wanted to write books?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

No.  I always wanted to read books.  But despite the ever-growing overflow of new titles, somehow I sensed a shortage of books to which I would like to return again and again after the first reading (and I quite enjoy doing that - I often re-read my favourite stories several times).  I am also disgusted and bored by the popular oversaturation of books and movies with brutality.  Similar distaste precipitates upon the stereotypical overload of unrealistic monsters or impossibly superpowerful megaheroes.

Which writers do you admire?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

As a kid, I was fascinated by Arthur C· Doyle and his lesser-known "The Lost World", alongside, naturally, the very-well-known Sherlock Holmes.  Another unforgettable storyteller is Jules Verne - especially the "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", "The Mysterious Island", or "The Mysterious Castle of the Carpathians" (including the hilarious Czech film adaptation) stick in my mind.  My childhood was also influenced by Robert Arthur (The Three Investigators), Zbigniew Nienacki (Mr· Rattletrap / or sometimes Mr· Automobile), and Lucy Maud Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables).  Later, the examples of "soul-savers" were J· K· Rowling (Harry Potter), Dan Brown, Axel Munthe, Dick Francis, Rex Stout, Alexandre Dumas, Charles Dickens, or Victor Hugo.

How would you describe the pathway to your first book?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

Oh, that would easily make another book - but not the kind my heart wants to write.  However, I promise readers that they will have the opportunity to relive many of the highlights from this voyage in a more relaxed form in the thrilling cases of the schoolboy Bruno and the enigmatic Doctor Barton.  Because these heroes cannot venture into the wonderworld of surprising findings and unsuspected discoveries without having to overcome innumerable wearisome obstacles and obnoxious hindrances in the first place.  These hurdles include the peripeteias of their ordinary lives in the tragicomic oppressive political regime, which they must resist at the beginning of their unheard-of lifetime emprise.

What would you wish our readers?
eKnizky.sk  (2018-FEB-24)

So that even in today's hectic world, they always have enough time for a superb book.  So that inspirational and consoling stories could always reach them.  Health, well-being, and the comfort of a cosy home so they can enjoy it all to the fullest.
