Expedition to Cursed Forest

1st PART'S  PRELUDE

Imagine Dr∙ Barton's shock:  Testing a repaired TV cable, he recognizes fragments of information about his family in a foreign broadcast.  Who and why could possibly know better than himself about the unexplainable disappearance of his relatives decades ago??

2nd PART'S PRELUDE

As an educated scientist, Dr∙ Barton dismisses Grandma Estela's beliefs in Green Death as scraps of ridiculous mythology.  Until he meets an emerald figure lurking in a fog.  What's going on in the scary backwoods where his parents went missing under rather unusual circumstances?

3rd PART'S PRELUDE

They first pledged to not set foot in the fatal woodhills - whereas now, the explorers plan for a second trip...  With an intentional re-entry into the fearsome forest!  The intriguing local phenomena are an irresistible attraction for Dr· Barton's inquisitive mind.  But is it wise to collect daring experiences in places avoided even by the most ruthless poachers?  What does a red-inked remark on a 100-year-old postcard have to say about these convoluted matters?

CHAPTER 1   OPENING

Suppose you live in the deepest communism and have a secret wire enabling you to listen to forbidden Western news and watch censored-out movies...  One would think that any damage to such a cable would make you sad and repairing it would please you.  Why was it different in Dr· Barton's case?  What went so wrong that he locked himself for days in his study after mending his severed wireline?

The poor old housewife is so stressed out by Dr· Barton's suddenly changed behavior that she decides to write a concerned letter to the Boleks family.  Here is her writing's beginning.

As if finding an unconscious old man in a dark mountain cabin wasn't enough!  The explorers were further scared out by a visco-fuse-ignited lamp glowing in the dead of the pitch-black night.  Was it designed to stun or possibly kill the poor oldster by causing his stroke or heart attack?  What else should the visitors fear in this weird place??

The explorers had seen this indecipherable symbol once in the past.  It was painted on the door to a walled-off secret chamber.  Now they come across the same design in a mythical forest...!  Well, not exactly.  Apologies for a little imprecision.  To be more accurate, it should be foreshadowed that the symbol came to them by itself from between the trees after they hastingly left the scary woods...

The story of Cursed Forest is composed of three volumes.  The first book takes us to the familiar cushy environment of Dr· Barton's comfy old-town apartment.  After giving an insightful scientific presentation in his magnificent private library, everyone is convinced of the need to visit some never-heard-of forestland.  That's where he starts exploring the long-fabled legendary area together with the Boleks at the first part's closure.  In the following two continuations, the investigators travel back and forth between Dr· Barton's snuggly home research base (including the always-sizzling Grandma Estela's kitchen) and the mystifying woody hills.  That's where they encounter unspeakable mysteries and later take part in a grand culmination of events in the form of an intricate rescue mission.  Pondering over the collected evidence does not simplify their situation in any respect.  Quite the opposite:  The factual analysis of all their enigmatic findings only allows the conclusions that are even more hair-raising than anticipated in the wildest imagination!
